1. Statutory Right of Withdrawal (EU Consumers)

Consumers residing in the European Union have the right to withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days without giving any reason. The withdrawal period begins on the date the contract is concluded (purchase date).

2. Expiry of the Right of Withdrawal for Digital Software

Pursuant to § 356 para. 5 of the German Civil Code (BGB), the right of withdrawal expires for a contract for the supply of digital content not provided on a tangible medium, once the trader has begun performance of the contract and the consumer has expressly agreed that the trader may begin performance before the end of the withdrawal period and has confirmed their understanding that the right of withdrawal lapses upon commencement of performance.

In practice: The right of withdrawal expires as soon as the licence key has been provided, downloaded, or activated, and the buyer has consented to immediate contract performance. Prior to activation of the licence key, the right of withdrawal remains in effect.

3. Processing via Stripe

Purchases are processed via Stripe (Stripe, Inc., USA). Refund requests for purchases where the right of withdrawal has not yet expired may be directed to Stripe directly. Stripe is responsible for the technical processing of refunds.

4. Goodwill Refunds

Beyond the statutory right of withdrawal, we review refund requests on a case-by-case basis as a gesture of goodwill, in particular where:

Goodwill refunds are generally processed within 5 business days. There is no legal entitlement to a goodwill refund.

5. No Right to Refund After Activation

After activation of the licence key and consent to immediate contract performance, no statutory right to a refund exists. Refunds after activation are only granted in the exceptional cases described in Section 4.

6. Free Trial Period Instead of Money-Back Guarantee

Journalisa can be used fully and free of charge for 30 days – without a credit card, without any obligation to purchase, and without restrictions.

This generous trial period replaces a retrospective money-back guarantee: buyers have the opportunity to evaluate the software thoroughly and risk-free before making a purchase. We strongly recommend making full use of this trial period before acquiring a licence.

After purchase and activation of the licence key, the provisions regarding the expiry of the right of withdrawal described in Sections 2 and 5 apply.
